The Race for Colorado Governor: Phil Weiser, Presumptive Governor-Elect

The AG is back on The Pod right after his stunning victory earlier this month, but videos don't edit themselves so it took us a minute to get this out!to yo

“Phil won because he was willing to drive long distances to give short speeches.”

That quote from an unnamed Democratic consultant in the Colorado Sun earlier this month really does sum up AG Phil Weiser’s theory of the case that led to his stunning (the margin is insane) upset (we always knew he was going to win as listeners know) victory over Senator Michael Bennet in the Democratic Primary for Colorado Governor that took place on June 30th.

Phil won 56.88%-43.12%, a margin of 13.76% in a race that polling conducted by Bennet allies said was The Senator’s to lose by almost 30 points as recently as March of this year according to a poll conducted by Keating Research on behalf of the Colorado Professional Firefighters.

So, how did he do it? How did the Attorney General defeat one of Colorado’s most successful Democrats and (who will be, assuming he finishes his current term) the longest serving United States Senator in Colorado history? Tune into this episode which we recorded just days after Phil’s win, and let us know what you think!
